Roulette is of French origin and was first played in New Orleans. The Roulette wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 00 to 36. One of the thing you should know about roulette is how the table minimum works. Most casinos have 00 on their roulette wheels to increase the odds to their advantage (American Roulette) The ball stops in one of the numbered pockets of the Roulette wheel. Roulette chips have no value at other tables. The dealer spins the roulette wheel in one direction and the small ball in the opposite one. Winning bets are determined by the numbered slot in which the ball comes to rest. The roulette ball falls into one of the wheel's numbered compartments which determines the winning number. After the roulette wheel stops the dealer will then mark the winning number on the betting area and the bets are paid accordingly. You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table.
When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
