There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (aka European roulette) The roulette wheel consists of slots or pockets numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. The American roulette is divided in to 38 slots,
numbered 1 through 36, plus 0 and 00. A European roulette wheel has
the numbers 1-36, plus a slot for zero. If you play black-red, odd/even or high-low,
you must place the roulette table minimum for each and every bet. The marked area of roulette is called the game layout, and you may place bets on any particular number, any 4 adjacent numbers, a column or a dozen
bet. American wheels have two green sections marked 00. The dealer spins a small ball in the opposite direction of the spinning roulette wheel. If the dreaded 00 is spun, the House keeps all the bets. The roulette ball falls into one of the wheel's numbered compartments which determines the winning number. Losing roulette bets are collected and winning bets are paid. You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table.
When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
