Roulette is of French origin and was first played in New Orleans. The roulette wheel consists of slots or pockets numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. The American roulette is divided in to 38 slots,
numbered 1 through 36, plus 0 and 00. Roulette players can bet on one, two, three, four or six numbers; or they can choose to bet red or black; high or low; odd or even. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. European wheels have only the 0 green section. The roulette chips are worthless at the other tables in the same casino, so do not
bother trying to stack them under your blackjack chips or anything foolish like that. If the roulette ball lands in the 0 slot, the game ends and all players receive half their original bets back. When the roulette ball comes to rest in one of the slots, the dealer will call out
the winning number and settle all bets. The winning roulette number is marked by the Dealer. After the roulette wheel stops the dealer will then mark the winning number on the betting area and the bets are paid accordingly. Once the roulette ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout.
When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
