There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (aka European roulette) The main goal of the roulette is to bet on the slot where the roulette ball falls. The standard American casino roulette wheel contains two green slots: 0 and 00 (many European wheels eliminate the 00, which creates more favorable odds for players) Roulette players can bet on one, two, three, four or six numbers; or they can choose to bet red or black; high or low; odd or even. The ball stops in one of the numbered pockets of the Roulette wheel. In a casino, the person who spins the wheel is called a croupier. The roulette chips are worthless at the other tables in the same casino, so do not
bother trying to stack them under your blackjack chips or anything foolish like that. Once the bets have been placed on the roulette table, the wheel starts spinning and a small ball is released on to the wheel in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel. Playing roulette you should give some indication to the dealer as to what value of chip denomination you prefer to be
provided with. Numbers 1-18 are considered the
lows numbers, 19-36 are the highs. Losing roulette bets are collected and winning bets are paid. Once the roulette ball has found its slot, the dealer will call out the winning number and place a marker on that number's spot on the layout. You should remember to exchange the colored non-value Roulette chips for valued gaming chips prior to leaving a particular Roulette table.
When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
