There are 2 types of roulette, American and French (aka European roulette) The roulette wheel consists of slots or pockets numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. The standard American casino roulette wheel contains two green slots: 0 and 00 (many European wheels eliminate the 00, which creates more favorable odds for players) Once the bets are placed on the table, a small ball is released on to the spinning Roulette wheel, in the opposite direction to the spin. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd and half even) plus a green section marked 0. European wheels have only the 0 green section. When all bets are placed, the croupier spins the wheel and a ball bounces from slot to slot until finally coming to rest in one of them. The dealer spins a small ball in the opposite direction of the spinning roulette wheel. Playing roulette you should give some indication to the dealer as to what value of chip denomination you prefer to be
provided with. Roulette does not move at a quick pace, it is for a more relaxed crowd than you are likely to find at the
craps table.
When you finish beating the house at roulette, you will have to ask the dealer to "color out" for you, the dealer will then take your chips and give you casino checks which you may then use on other games or cash out at the cashier.
